Jessica is an ANCC board-certified nurse practitioner who completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2017 and accelerated bachelors of science (BSN) in 2013 from the University at Buffalo in Amherst, NY.

In addition to her practice in aesthetic medicine she has background experience in acute care oncology, specializing in cancer-related emergencies and hospital medicine for acutely ill cancer patients.

She continues to expand her knowledge of best aesthetic practices through regular ongoing education and training.

Her passion for aesthetic medicine is deeply rooted in her own dermatologic conditions as she personally struggles with eczema, sensitive skin, facial scarring, and melasma. Her favorite treatments to provide are facial fillers including cheeks and lips.

She is a full-time nurse practitioner, wife, mother of two young girls, and dog-mom. When she can find the time (ha!) she enjoys traveling and a good deep-tissue massage.

She looks forward to helping you boost your confidence and truly love the skin you’re in.

Facial Filler

Common treatment areas include cheeks, jawline, chin, and laugh lines.

We currently use a variety of hyaluronic acid facial fillers from the Restylane family as well as Revanesse Versa+. Your provider is expertly trained to select the filler suited for your treatment area and desired result.

You may note minor swelling and even bruising following your treatment which can worsen over several days. It is recommended to schedule treatments 2-4 weeks before a special event. Results are instant and are expected to last 9-12 months.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

To ensure the best possible results from your treatment:

Avoid the use of Aspirin and any NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil) for at least 2 days before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. If you are currently prescribed any blood thinners or antiplatelet medications for a medical condition, please do not stop taking these.

Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before and after your treatment as these can also affect blood flow and worsen bruising/swelling.

Discontinue Retin-A 2-3 days before treatment to avoid any increased redness and irritation. Additionally, avoid excessive or unnecessary UV exposure to prevent sunburn prior to your treatment.

Please let your provider know if there have been any changes in your previous medical history at the time of your appointment.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Avoid straining, heavy lifting, and vigorous exercise for 24 hours following treatment. Increasing circulation may inadvertently move the filler from where it was injected.

Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids for 48 hours after treatment to minimize the risk of bleeding and bruising.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment to minimize swelling/irritation.

Avoid the use of Retin-A or similar products (ex. Kinerase, Tazarac) for 48 hours after treatment to avoid increased irritation or redness.

Avoid cosmetic treatments to the area such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks.

If you are able, avoid applying makeup to the treated area for 24 hours.

You may use Tylenol and ice for comfort, apply for 20 minutes at a time as needed.

Please notify your provider if you experience any increased pain, unusual swelling, excessive redness, blisters, or itching immediately, should it occur following your treatment.

Avoid massaging or manipulating the area for 24 hours. This could cause a phenomenon known as “filler migration,” or pushing of filler into unwanted areas of the face.

There may be some increased swelling, redness, and bruising to the treated areas for the 1-2 days following your treatment. This is normal and expected.

You may use arnica balm to decrease bruising and swelling.

Soreness/discomfort is normal following your treatment. Severe pain is not. Should you note pain with or without skin discoloration following your treatment, contact your provider immediately as this could be a sign of a very rare complication called vascular occlusion. If not managed appropriately, this could result in tissue necrosis and require expert referral to plastic surgery.

Sequential dermal filler appointments are recommended no sooner than 4 weeks apart to allow for proper healing time.

Reasons To Postpone Or Reschedule Your Treatment:

  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding/nursing, or under the age of 21 your appointment will be canceled as there is no available safety data for filler treatment among these populations.
  • If you have a special event we recommend scheduling dermal filler treatments at least 2-4 weeks in advance.
  • If you develop a cold sore, rash, or active infection in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, please contact your primary care provider and reschedule your appointment after the condition resolves.
  • If you have undergone any facial laser, ultrasound, chemical peel, or microdermabrasion treatments we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks to have dermal filler treatments performed.
  • If you develop fever, chills, shortness of breath/cough, runny/stuffy nose, sore throat, body aches, or generalized fatigue/malaise.

Hyaluronidase (Hylenex) Facial Filler Dissolver

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. This treatment is indicated for the reversal of previously injected fillers due to poor placement, filler migration, overfilling, client preference, or to emergently restore blood flow to an occluded vessel.

It is important to note that hyaluronidase is non-specific to dermal fillers; it can also break down naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid present in the body. The results can sometimes be unpredictable and even dramatic with possible loss of volume and some skin laxity.

Clients with a history of anaphylaxis (trouble breathing, lip or throat swelling) to bee venom should not receive this treatment

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Avoid any blood-thinning medications (such as ibuprofen, Advil, or Motrin).

Do not stop prescribed anticoagulants (such as Xarelto, Eliquis, or Warfarin) but do notify your injector prior to your procedure that you are on these medications for an underlying health condition.

It is recommended to avoid caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco at least 24 hours before and after your procedure.

During the procedure you can expect minor discomfort, bleeding, and swelling due to the nature of multiple injections to the desired treatment area(s). Although some of the effects can be immediate, it can take up to 2 weeks for the final results to be seen and the procedure may need to be repeated.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

After the procedure, some common injection-related reactions might occur.
Including:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Pain
  • Itching
  • Bruising
  • Tenderness at the injection site

These reactions have generally been described as mild to moderate and typically resolve spontaneously after a few days after injection. Bruising may occasionally be more significant.

If you develop swelling of the lips or airway with or without bleeding, report to your nearest Emergency Department or call 911.

Lip Filler

Enhance your natural beauty and improve facial balance with lip filler. Our lip injections are currently performed using hyaluronic acid fillers Revanesse Versa+ and Restylane Kysse, to be determined by your provider.

Feel free to bring in a photo of your “lip inspiration!” While we limit lip filler treatment to one syringe per session, some clients may require multiple syringes to achieve their lip goals.

As with any facial filler procedure, the natural healing course will occur over 14 days. Lip filler appointments should be booked 2-4 weeks before any special event.

When you leave your appointment, your lips will be swollen and even possibly bruised. It is normal for bruising and swelling to get worse over the following 2-3 days. Your lips may initially be sore. You may even note some lumps and bumps for the first 1-2 weeks. After 14 days, swelling, bruising, lumps, and bumps should subside and you will be able to see your ultimate result.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Avoid the use of Aspirin and any NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil) for at least 2 days before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. If you are currently prescribed any blood thinners or antiplatelet medications for a medical condition, do not stop taking these. Contact your primary provider as they will ultimately decide if it is safe for you to temporarily hold these medications and undergo this elective procedure.
Notify your provider at least 3 days before your appointment if you have a history of cold sores. A preventive prescription can be provided to avoid an outbreak, which commonly occurs post-procedurally.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before and after your treatment as these can also affect blood flow and worsen bruising/swelling.
Please let your provider know if there have been any changes in your previous medical history at the time of your appointment.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Avoid drinking from a straw or bottle, excessive kissing, and smoking for 48-72 hours following treatment. These activities can cause filler migration and/or abnormal movement of deposited filler, causing undesirable lip shape.

Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids for 48 hours after treatment to minimize the risk of bleeding and bruising.

Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24-48 hours after your treatment to minimize swelling/irritation.

Avoid the use of Retin-A or similar products (ex. Kinerase, Tazarac) for 48 hours after treatment to avoid increased irritation or redness.

Avoid cosmetic treatments to the area such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials, or micro-dermabrasion for 2 weeks.

Avoid massaging or manipulating the area for 48 hours.

Your lips will look more swollen and/or bruised/red for the 1-2 days following treatment. They will continue to “settle” for 7-14 days.

You may use arnica balm to decrease bruising and swelling.

Soreness/discomfort is normal following your treatment. Severe pain is not. Should you note pain with or without lip/skin discoloration following your treatment, contact your provider immediately as this could be a sign of a very rare complication called vascular occlusion. If not managed appropriately, this could result in tissue necrosis and require expert referral to plastic surgery.

Sequential lip filler appointments should be booked no sooner than 4 weeks apart to allow proper healing time.

Reasons To Postpone Or Reschedule Your Treatment:

    • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding/nursing, or under the age of 21 your appointment will be canceled as there is no available safety data for hyaluronic acid filler treatment among these populations.
    • If you have a special event we recommend scheduling lip augmentation at least 4 weeks in advance.
    • If you develop a cold sore, rash, or active infection in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, please contact your primary care provider and reschedule your appointment after the condition resolves.
    • If you have undergone any facial laser, ultrasound, chemical peel, or microdermabrasion treatments near or around the lips we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks to schedule a lip appointment for lip filler.
    • If you develop fever, chills, shortness of breath/cough, runny/stuffy nose, sore throat, body aches, or generalized fatigue/malaise
  • Clients with a history of anaphylaxis (trouble breathing, lip or throat swelling) to bee venom should not receive this treatment

Lip Flip/Gummy Smile Treatment With Xeomin®

Derived from botulinum toxin, Xeomin is a medication used to temporarily freeze muscles from contracting. Your provider will strategically place small doses into multiple injection points around your nose and/or upper lip. This will help tight muscles relax, temporarily improving the look of a “gummy smile” and/or allowing the upper lip to “flip.” Overall the anticipated result is a fuller-appearing upper lip.

Treatment effects may last up to 3-4 months, however in some clients, this may be less depending on how much the perioral muscles are exercised (talking, eating, smoking, etc.)

This service is commonly combined with lip filler for a longer-lasting, more dramatic lip enhancement.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Avoid the use of Aspirin and any NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil) for at least 2 days before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. If you currently prescribed any blood thinners or antiplatelet medications for a medical condition, please do not stop taking these

Please let your provider know if there have been any changes in your previous medical history at the time of your appointment.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Avoid straining, heavy lifting, vigorous exercise for 24 hours following treatment. Increasing circulation may inadvertently move the botulinum toxin from where it was injected.

Do NOT lie head down flat, touch, or rub the treated areas for at least 4 hours.

Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or micro-dermabrasion for 2 weeks after treatment with Xeomin®.

If you are able, avoid applying makeup to the treated area for 24 hours.

Please notify your provider if you experience any increased pain, unusual swelling, excessive redness, blisters, or itching immediately, should it occur following your treatment.

You must wait 14 days after treatment before consideration for lip filler to allow full treatment effect. You may notice treatment changes within 3-4 days.

Temporary difficulty using a spoon, straw, pronouncing certain words, and numbness are all possible and normal side effects of this treatment. There is no way to predict the severity of side effects. Most people report improvement over days to weeks.

Reasons To Postpone Or Reschedule Your Treatment:

  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding/nursing, or under the age of 21 your appointment will be canceled as there is no available safety data for botulinum toxin treatment among these populations.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment (Xeomin®)

Xeomin is a brand-name medication used to treat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Commonly treated areas include the forehead, frown lines (11s), crow’s feet, bunny (nasal) lines, downturned mouth corners, and chin dimples. Xeomin may also be used to treat overacting chewing muscles (masseters) for jaw pain or cosmetic improvement of an overly square jaw.

Small doses of medication are strategically placed within the targeted muscles at multiple injection points to decrease muscle movement causing skin wrinkles.

On average, Treatment effects last up to 3-4 months. In some clients, this may be variable depending on muscle strength, physical activity level, dose, and frequency of regular treatments.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
